We already have Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Now, it seems like that Microsoft could apparently be working on something called Series Y. This apparent Series Y could be a handheld cloud only device from Microsoft. The rumor comes from the one and only, Jez Corden who jokingly (speculatively) mentioned an Xbox handheld device. While it was presented in a humorous way, it could very well be a tease.
We already know that Microsoft is working to bring xCloud on different devices to remove the need of having a console to play games. Project Keystone is already being talked about a lot and there could be other devices as well. There is a possibility that Project Keystone might have evolved into a handheld device.
Now, a handheld cloud only device doesn’t make much sense since you can use xCloud virtually on any device. However, if there is some sort of hardware to support the xCloud service, it could very well improve the overall experience of the service. And this could be great as well for those who don’t have access to very fast internet speeds. A hybrid model could definitely be an interesting one.
This isn’t the first time we have seen Jez discussing a potential handheld Y Series from Microsoft. In a tweet response to Tom Warren, he replied, “Maybe you will get your wish”. Tom Warren was basically wishing for an Xbox Portable.
got Xbox Cloud Gaming up and running on the Steam Deck, and I’m now convinced more than ever that Microsoft should do an Xbox portable pic.twitter.com/LGacHvrPUM

So mentioning it multiple times definitely adds weight to the rumor. However, since Microsoft hasn’t officially revealed any of these devices yet, it’s safe to assume that they are still far away from release. Hopefully, we will hear more about these rumored devices down the road.
