Amazon has Unannounced Titles for PC, Consoles and Mobile in the Works

Even though their newest game New World just came out, multiple other unannounced Amazon games are supposedly in the works. The news comes from a job listing on Amazon’s website, where a listing for a Senior Game Designer was recently posted. The unannounced new games are for PC, consoles, and mobile devices.

New World is a PC-exclusive MMO, but has proven to be a record-breaker already, with it breaking the Top 5 list of Steam’s most-concurrently-played games. Previous Amazon games, however, have had less success, such as Crucible, which was released and then un-released before being entirely cancelled due to various problems.

While New World seems to be Amazon finding its footing, hopefully these unannounced games can be just as appealing. With them being unannounced as well, we may end up seeing them at some event in the future, whether it’s at the Game Awards this year, or at E3 2022.

New World was first announced at the 2019 Game Awards, so if Amazon follows a pattern, the unannounced Amazon games may end up doing something similar if they have trailers ready by that point. Otherwise, all we can do is wait and speculate, such as in the genre of these new games.

The listing on the Amazon website cites that the team includes developers that are veterans of games like EverQuest, H1Z1, PlanetSide, and Free Realms, all open-world multiplayer games that are all similar in some way or another to New World.

Whether this means Amazon will invest in more MMO-style games in the future remains to be seen, especially since previous attempts at non-open world games have fallen flat. At the same time, however, Amazon will likely try and diversify its portfolio (and also try not to take attention from New World with more MMO games.)
