Assassin’s Creed Mirage Won’t Charge Extra for a PS5 Upgrade

Thanks to official description of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, it has been confirmed that Ubisoft won’t charge owners of PS4 version of the game for a PlayStation 5 upgrade. The official description reads:

If you already own the PS4™ version of this game, you can get the PS5™ digital version at no extra cost and you do not need to purchase this product. Owners of a PS4™ disc copy must insert it into the PS5™ every time they want to download or play the PS5™ digital version. PS4™ game disc owners who buy the PS5™ Digital Edition disc-free console will not be able to get the PS5™ version at no extra cost.

As you can see, there is a small catch for PS5 Digital edition owners as they don’t have a disc drive. If you have a disc version of Assassin’s Creed Mirage on PlayStation 4, you will need to enter that disc into PlayStation 5 if you want to download the PS5 version of Assassin’s Creed Mirage. So the free upgrade is apparently only for the Disc versions of PS5. Although there is no mention of Xbox Series, it’s most like that the upgrade will be free on Microsoft’s platform as well.

At this time, we aren’t sure how the PS5 version of Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be will different from PS4. If it has some extra features on PS5, then it’s a great move by Ubisoft as Sony itself has been charging $10 more for its PS5 upgrades of its own games.

Apart from upgrade information, there are other tidbits that have already been leaked about the game. As you might already know, the full reveal for the game is officially planned on September 10 during Ubisoft Forward. It has also been reported that Ubisoft is expected to announce “several Assassin’s Creed projects”. So, Ubisoft might announce more Assassin’s Creed titles during Saturday’s showcase apart from revealing Assassin’s Creed Mirage so stay tuned for that.
