Bioshock 4 Development Shifted to Unreal Engine 5?

We all know that 2K Game has officially confirmed the existence of new Bioshock game being developed by Cloud Chamber. According to some reports, the game now has been in development for a long time. While we do know that Bioshock 4 is in development, we don’t know anything about the game officially.

Previously, it was known that Bioshock 4 is being developed using Unreal Engine 4. There were multiple job listings pointing to that. But now, if we look at the career listings on Cloud Chamber’s official website, we see a different picture.

Multiple Job listings mention the use of Unreal Engine 5. For instance, the job listing for Gameplay Programmer mentions:

Work within Unreal Engine 5 adapting existing systems and building new technology in order to fulfill the project’s technical needs and creative goals

While the project mentioned here can easily be a new project but since the game hasn’t been officially revealed yet, the studio could have taken the decision to shift it to Unreal Engine 5.

Similar requirement has also been mentioned in other job listings like for “Core Systems Programmer“.

While 2K Games and Cloud Chamber both have been tight lipped about Bioshock 4, we do know about small tidbits about the game thanks to the other job listings. We know that the next game will be open-world and it will also have side quests.

If the new Bioshock is still in the early development, making a shift to the newer version of Unreal Engine would make more sense but nothing can be said for sure now. With E3 2021, fast approaching we might hear some announcement about the next Bioshock game.
