Rumor – Playground Games’ Fable Scaled Down Due to Forzatech

Playground Games’ Fable is one of the few games that fans have been waiting for a long time now. The game was officially revealed back in 2020 and since then, we have seen almost nothing about the game. So far, we only have heard troublesome things about its development. Most of the game is still a mystery however, we do know that they game is in development and we might see it in action soon.

Now a new rumor has surfaced about the status of the game. Gaz from Game On Daily has claimed that the scope of the New Fable game was reduced because “the team had trouble with the game engine”. Now, if you don’t know already, Playground Games was using Forzatech for the development of Fable Reboot. The Forzatech engine has successfully delivered great Forza games for the fans in the past however, some fans had concerns whether it will be able to handle an RPG like Fable or not.

It seems like those concerns were legitimate if this report is to be believed. Gaz, in the podcast, further shared that the game mechanics were too complex for the Forzatech engine so they had to cut them. Moreover, the team was also not much experienced in designing such game so they had trouble in that too. The Spanish developer also mentioned the in-experience of team so this part could be real.

Ultimately Gaz shared that while Playground Games had trouble with the development, it doesn’t mean that we should worry much about the game. It could still be far in development and like I mentioned earlier, we might see the game in action soon. I just hope that Fable doesn’t become like Scalebound and it eventually sees the light of the day.
