Leaker Shares Troubling Information For Modern Warfare III Maps

As you might already know, the next Call of Duty iteration (2023) is going to be called, “Modern Warfare III”. Original, right? It’s to be expected from a long-running franchise with 22 mainline games. It becomes difficult to bring originality with each iteration.

While Call of Duty games are still attractive to the masses, the franchise is struggling to bring any new meaningful changes. Activision has even stopped using new names for Call of Duty titles and even the titles are becoming confusing. Now, a new rumor has surfaced about Call of Duty Modern Warfare III maps. Twitter handle @el_bobberto has revealed that currently, every map for Modern Warfare 3 (2023) is a remastered version of Call of Duyt Moder Warfare II (2009).

This is of course a big claim and hard to digest but considering how Activision has been banking on the old Call of Duty games recently, this could very well be true. While it’s acceptable that Moder Warfare III will have remastered Modern Warfare 2 (2009) maps, it’s hard to believe that Call of Duty 2023 won’t have any original maps. The viable explanation here could be that all the old maps are included to bank on nostalgia and there would be some new maps as well.

The rumor mill doesn’t stop here. Another Twitter handle, @ProRebornYT has claimed that a big change for Call of Duty franchise is coming that will,” signify the end of an era of our beloved game franchise”. This with the remastered maps leak has fans believe that Call of Duty could adopt the Free to Play model soon. The Twitter user didn’t give any hint about this supposed big change but he did mention that it’s not related specifically to Modern Warfare III which will be sold as a $70 game.

Activision has already confirmed that content from Modern Warfare II will “carry forward” to Modern Warfare III including some weapons, operators, and cosmetics. So, a large chunk of MW2 content will carry over to MW3 with some restrictions and MW3 will have some new content to offer. Modern Warfare III already feels like a $70 DLC skin of Modern Warfare II.

Fans are waiting impatiently for MW3 reveal in Warzone which is scheduled for August 17. I guess we will have more details with this reveal event as officially, we don’t know much about this year’s Call of Duty yet. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is set to release on November 10, 2023. Sledgehammer Games has been confirmed to be the lead developer for COD Moder Warfare 3. The game will release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. It seems like Call of Duty isn’t ready to leave behind PlayStation 4 and Xbox One just yet.
