German video-game studio Crytek has released many critically and commercially successful games over the years, like Crysis, Warface, Hunt Showdown and Ryse: Son of Rome.
If you’re a fan of the Crytek games and have been looking forward to a new release from them since their last game, Hunt: Showdown in 2019, I have some good news for you.
In the career page on Crytek’s website, there have been several openings listed for an ‘Unannounced AAA’ game. The jobs listed on the website are:

- Development Director
- Game Designer
- Gameplay Programmer
- Lead Game Designer
- Level Designer
- Senior Character Concept Artist
- Senior Environment Concept Artist
- Senior Game Designer
- Senior Level Designer
- Senior System Designer
- System Designer
- Technical Designer
- Technical Director
Now, the real question is what game could this possibly be. Could it be a sequel to one of Crytek’s existing games or could it be a brand-new game itself?
As of right now, nothing has been said by Crytek themselves about this unannounced AAA game, but there’s a few things hidden in the job listings that we can use to speculate what kind of game it’ll be.
The most note-worthy thing that can be found in the requirements section of the “Game Designer” job listing is that it says the applicant should have “1 or more shipped AAA titles on PC or Console, preferably a FPS”.
The “preferably a FPS” part now basically confirms that this new AAA game from Crytek will be an FPS or it’ll at least have elements of a FPS in it.
There have been rumors that a sequel to Ryse: Son of Rome was being developed by Crytek, but since this unannounced AAA game seems to be an FPS, it’s unlikely that these rumors are true.
Since Hunt: Showdown has only been out for 2 years, it’s also very unlikely that this new game will be a sequel to that. It’d be foolish for Crytek to start working on a sequel to Hunt: Showdown because of the fact that the game still has an active player base and is bringing in lots of revenue for Crytek.
There’s a reasonably high chance that this game will be another addition to the Crysis series. Crysis Remastered, which was released by Crytek in 2020, was very successful; showing that gamers still love the Crysis Series.
Because of this, it would be rational to assume that this new game is either a brand new Crysis game or a remaster of Crysis 2 or Crysis 3.
That said, nothing can be said for sure right now about this new AAA game for Crytek. All we can do is wait until Crytek comes out with an announcement about it.
