One Piece Odyssey Trademark Registered By Shueisha And Bandai Namco

Bandai Namco and the manga publisher Shueisha have apparently jointly registered a trademark by the name of One Piece Odyssey. What this means that we could be seeing a new One Piece game at some point in the future, or a movie or it may just be another trademark renewal like many others.

One Piece is a long-running (it started in 1997) shonen manga showing the adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates as they attempt to find the mystical treasure known as One Piece. The franchise is wildly popular, seen as one of the biggest in the manga business, and it has had several games based on it released before.

Whether Odyssey turns out to be a movie event or a video game however, remains to be seen. While Bandai-Namco’s presence with the trademark might point towards a game, there have been a sizable number of One Piece animated movies before now.

If the One Piece Odyssey trademark does turn out to be a game, however, who knows what sort of game it might be. Being a pirate adventure series, One Piece is highly suited towards an open-world sailing game, but various One Piece games also include musou games or fighting games. One Piece World Seeker, for instance, was also an open-world game.

Of course, at the same time, there hasn’t been any details released about the trademark, either, so there’s no telling exactly what Odyssey will involve. It could be a game, a movie, or something entirely different, so until we learn more details we’ll just have to wait and see.

Bandai Namco will likely reveal what the One Piece Odyssey trademark is for later, possibly at an upcoming gaming event or even on their own time. Until then, all we can do, especially if you’re a One Piece fan, is just wait and see.
