It has been 6 years since Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls VI officially. While Bethesda’s current focus is mostly on Starfield, Pete Hines has shared a small update on the development status of The Elder Scrolls 6 in an interview with Spanish website, Vandal.
According to Pete Hines, The Elder Scrolls 6 is in active development and has entered the “early development” phase. So, the game is no longer in the concept phase. He also mentioned that fans shouldn’t expect to see anything related to the next Elder Scrolls game anytime soon. Considering how Bethesda Softworks operates, it might be at least 2 years since the studio starts talking about The Elder Scrolls 6.
The last main installment in the Elder Scrolls series, Skyrim was released back in 2011. So, it will be at least a decade and a half before we will receive the next entry in the series. For now, we should be contented with the fact that the game is in active development, and we will see it in action once Bethesda shifts its prime focus from Starfield.
While we haven’t seen anything related to The Elder Scrolls VI, Bethesda has talked about it a little in different interviews. Todd Howard for instance, recently shared that he wants to make “Ultimate Fantasy-World Simulator” for the next Elder Scrolls game. Bethesda also has an Indiana Jones game in the works and there are high chances that we will see that game release before the Elder Scrolls 6. So, it’s safe to assume that the release time between Starfield and The Elder Scrolls is going to be huge, and we should keep our expectations in check for now.
