Since the release of the Sony’s next-gen console, the PS5, only a handful of new exclusives have been released for it. The ones that have been released though have performed exceptionally well, showing that consumers are fully on-board with Sony’s next gen games and they can’t wait to get more of them.
If you’re one of those gamers, I have some good news for you. This good news is that Sony Interactive Entertainment seems to be working on a new next-gen IP with a multiplayer system in it.
This information was discovered through the London Studio’s job listing website, where they’ve listed all the job openings they currently have.
If you click on these job openings and read through their ‘Overview’ section, you’ll notice some pretty interesting stuff in there.
For example, take a look at the overview section of the ‘Lead VFX Artist‘ job opening and you’ll see that it clearly mentions a ‘brand new, next-gen IP’. This new IP is also mentioned in the other job listings like ‘Lead Technical Artist‘.
But that’s not all, folks. The most important job listing of them all is the ‘Lead Online Programmer‘. In the overview section of this job listing, it says “you will work together with multiple disciplines within our engine and game teams to lead the development of the online features required for our next big title. These features could include networked physics and animation systems, game logic, matchmaking and session management, among others.”
This obviously implies that this new next-gen IP we just found out about will also have a multi-player system. Not only that, it’ll also have its own matchmaking system, meaning that this multiplayer system doesn’t just mean that this new IP will have co-play.
So, from what we’ve gathered from these job listings, it seems like PlayStation London Studio of Sony is working on a next-gen multi-player game for the PS5.
If you are not aware, the last game was saw from Sony London Studio was Blood & Truth which was also release or PlayStation 5. While the studio itself hasn’t released a big game yet on its own in recent times but they might have been involved in multiple Sony titles.
That said, you should keep in mind that Sony hasn’t announced anything about this new IP yet, so you shouldn’t get too excited about it. Since the job listings are still up, it means that the London Studio possibly hasn’t even started properly working on this IP yet as they’re still looking for employees to work on it.
All we can do now is wait and see if Sony Interactive Entertainment announces anything about this new next-gen IP or not. Since it seems to have not even started its development, it’ll take quite a bit of time before Sony releases and information on it.
