Grand Theft Auto 5, at this point, has been out for longer than the gap between it and its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto 4. However, a recent Instagram story posted by Tony Mesones, the Soundtrack Manager and Music Supervisor at Rockstar Games, has quite possibly hinted at possible Grand Theft Auto 6 news.
The story in question just appears to be a picture of a footpath next to Miami Beach, with the caption “Who said it would be cold?” The caption also had Rockstar Games tagged in it, hence the large amounts of speculation. But whether it actually is hinting at a new GTA game remains to be seen.
Rockstar hasn’t given very much information on a new Grand Theft Auto game, seeming content to repeatedly upgrade Grand Theft Auto 5 to the next console generation. But fans have still crafted a narrative that the next game will be returning players to Vice City, when the last time we visited that location was 2002 in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
Grand Theft Auto 6 has had only one hint of its existence revealed, mainly that one particular voice actor has been cast as someone called “The Mexican.” Since then, however, there hasn’t been any other information on the game at all, if it’s even being worked on.
Some comments on the Instagram story are hopeful that it actually represents the in-game graphics we’ll see in GTA 6, or might even be an in-engine screenshot of a similar area in Vice City. Considering the high graphical power of both the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X, it wouldn’t be implausible to think of such things.
Of course, any speculation about Grand Theft Auto 6 will be tested when (or if) Rockstar Games actually reveals anything about it. Considering it’s been 8 years since Grand Theft Auto 5 came out, hopefully that time will be soon.
