Riot Games Working On Valorant Mobile Port With Battle Royale Support

A recent leak posted on Twitter has shown that Riot Games, developers of the League of Legends franchise, is currently making a Valorant mobile port. While the game had previously been rumored to exist, now it’s fully confirmed. Valorant is their team-based first-person-shooter title that came out in June of last year, but the mobile game seems to be expanding on it now.

The Valorant mobile title was confirmed in a recent press release from Riot, though the leak about battle royale capability is still up in the air. Considering E3 and other major gaming events for the summer are just around the corner, we may get more information then.

What’s most interesting, however, is the battle royale component. Being a team-based shooter like Overwatch and other similar titles, Valorant includes multiple distinct characters with their own specialties and abilities, which could make the game very interesting indeed.

It wouldn’t be the first time such a battle royale is made, either; Apex Legends, Respawn Entertainment’s own battle royale title, has a similar setup, with players picking from a variety of established characters. The Valorant mobile port getting a battle royale mode could lead to similar success, if done properly.

Valorant is also similar to Apex Legends in that it is an extremely fast-paced game that emphasizes teamwork and where death can come in the blink of an eye. There’s definitely a following that could make a battle royale game worth it as well, as Riot also announced Valorant player numbers this year are around 14 million people.

The PC version of Valorant will likely be getting similar content to the upcoming Valorant mobile port, though which one will be getting it first still remains to be seen. Either way, if a battle royale mode is coming for Valorant, hopefully it will end up being just as big of a success as the original game already is. Valorant is currently playable exclusively on PC.
